New Study: Intermittent Fasting Shown to Fight Obesity and Metabolic Disorders.

Not too surprising, a new study on intermittent fasting (IF) reveals mechanisms by which obesity and metabolic disorders are reduced. The benefits are realized even without having to count calories during the IF process. How long is intermittent fasting  needed to realize benefits? Some benefits can occur in as little as 6 weeks while the study was conducted over a 16 week period by Kyoung-Han Kim and Yun Hye Kim in the journal Cell Research which is published by Springer Nature.

"Intermittent fasting without a reduction in calorie intake can be a preventative and therapeutic approach against obesity and metabolic disorders," says Kyoung-Han Kim.

"Strikingly, these fasting-stimulated changes in the growth of vascular cells and subsequent immune alterations occur even after a single cycle of 24-hour fasting, and are completely reversed when mice start eating again," adds Yun Hye Kim.
